Multi-site vegetation management programs
The scope
Delivery of comprehensive vegetation management programs across several Hunter Valley mine leases. The project targeted lantana, crofton, pampas, and other declared species across vast, varied terrain.
Our approach
Following initial site inspections, HSL Site Services developed tailored management plans. We deployed scheduled crews via ServiceM8, providing daily photo updates and pesticide logs to ensure the client remained compliant with environmental regulations.
The results
- Thousands of square metres of infestations successfully treated.
- Sites returned to regulatory compliance, directly supporting lease relinquishment goals.
- Zero LTIs or MTIs recorded throughout the project duration.
Grahamstown dam pine eradication
The scope
Pine eradication within the Grahamstown Dam West Catchment, a highly sensitive water protection zone.
Our approach
Adhering to strict catchment protection protocols, our team utilised DiBak capsule applications and follow-up monitoring. We used GPS-enabled data capture to provide digital mapping that integrated directly into Hunter Water’s GIS systems.
The results
- 80% kill rate confirmed through follow-up assessments.
- Maintained total catchment integrity with low-impact methodologies.
- Provided high-level photographic and GIS reporting for client records.
Vales Point remediation
The scope
Urgent vegetation remediation required at Vales Point following a previous contractor’s failure to meet standards.
Our approach
We performed a rapid mobilisation, sequencing slashing, slope mowing, spraying, and mulching to stabilise the site quickly. Our vegetation management programs are designed for this level of responsiveness, providing transparent progress reporting to keep stakeholders informed of the recovery status.
The results
- Site restored to full compliance within the required timeframe.
- Received commendations for high presentation standards and zero safety incidents.
APZ and asset maintenance
The scope
Regular establishment and maintenance of Asset Protection Zones (APZs) and vegetation clearance to reduce fire risk.
Our approach
Using a scheduled maintenance cycle, we deployed our Green Climber remote slope mower to manage steep terrain safely. All works were documented with before and after reporting via ServiceM8 to prove the effectiveness of our vegetation management programs.
The results
- All APZs maintained to legislative standards, significantly reducing bushfire risk.
- Managed wet-weather delays proactively without missing compliance deadlines.
